Stock cars are available for an additional

$617.00. For the “Super Kids” Division,
please call the Soap Box derby Hotline
(846-8873). Order forms are available by
calling the Soap Box Derby Hotline or on the
Internet at
www.aasbd.org . You can continue to use
these cars in as many All-American
sanctioned local or rally races as you want.
Rally races are held throughout New England
each year and we can provide you with the
dates for these events
4. The cost to decal/letter your Stock car
with sponsor’s name etc. may add $85.00.
Super Stock and Masters cars may be painted.
Cost of painting depends on your taste. The
entry fee for this race is $75.00. This
totals about $800.00 for the first year.
After the first year, your only cost is the
entry fee. Your sponsor should be aware of
this.
5. Most racers have a sponsor to help pay
all or a large part of the cost of the car
and entry fee. Please discuss ownership of
the car with your sponsor. Some prefer to
keep the car and pick a different driver
each year, while others use the same driver
until that driver outgrows the car. lf you
need help in locating a sponsor, please let
us know. THIS IS A TOBACCO AND ALCOHOL FREE
EVENT AND WE DISCOURAGE A SPONSOR IN EITHER
BUSINESS.
6. If you have any doubt that you may not be
able to fit in a car, please call us. We
have sample cars available for you to try
before you buy your own car kit.
7. The driver must participate in the car
assembly. If the car was raced in a previous
year, it must be updated to the rules for
the current year. If a new driver is
assigned, the car must be disassembled and
reassembled by the driver that will race the
car.
8. We will have clinics in
April 2010 for new drivers to ensure their
car is assembled properly and that it meets
all safety requirements. New drivers must
contact Johnny Gomes at 846-8873 or
jgomes884@cox.net.
9. Several rules have changed this year. We
suggest that you download and print them
from the All American site:
www.aasbd.com . Because of the new All
American sponsors – Home Depot and NASCAR,
several requirements have changed with
regards to safety and markings on the cars.
You will be required to wear the new style
helmet that was introduced two years ago,
for Stock and Super Stock Divisions.
10. Please note the following about weight:
Consult your rule sheet or call if you have
any questions. Weight must be clear of both
axles and the rear radius rods by 1-inch
minimum. Weight must be clear of radius rod
tie block and the brake pulley block by a
minimum of 1/8 inch. There is a weight-free
zone between the steering pulleys and the
original floorboard holes where the brake
pedal is mounted. Weights cannot contact the
car body. Individual weights cannot be
longer than 12 inches in the direction of
the car’s length. They can be wider than 12
inches if they do not contact the car body.
Weight in the area of the seat cannot be
more than 1-1/2 inches high from the
floorboard. All weights must be painted and
have the weight value marked. You must use
only the five 5/16” holes near the center of
the floorboard or the two adjustable weight
bolts provided in the kit. You may not drill
any weight holes in the floorboard or use
any other fasteners to mount the weight.
Weights mounted to the five holes near the
floorboard center should have 5/16” bolts
with washers on the top and bottom and the
bolts should be cut such that the ends
inside the car are not a safety hazard. If
you use bar bell style weights, it is
required to cut a piece of wooden dowel to
fit in the center hole, then drill a 5/16”
hole in the dowel so the weight cannot move
in the car. These notes cover most of the
difficulties we have seen. For a more
complete version, see your assembly
directions that are available at the
clinics.
11. When we receive your registration and
bio forms with a check for $75.00, we will
assign a number to your car, and we will
provide and attach that number to the car
during your final inspection. We accept
registrations and assign numbers on a first
come basis up to 75 cars. After that, all
others are in a stand-by category. All
applications must be received by April 23,
2010 in order to race.
12. Cars will be final inspected and
impounded on Wednesday, May 19 and Thursday,
May 20. Cars must arrive with the body
shells removed or held with a few screws to
facilitate internal inspection. The driver
and his/her parent should be prepared to
reinstall the body shell after inspection.
Cars that cannot be brought up to current
rules before the end of impoundment, will
not be allowed to race. Test runs will be on
Saturday, May 22nd starting at 7:00 AM. The
Race will start at 9:00 AM.
